Welcome to the Taletso App
The Taletso TVET College app is the college's official digital home: one place for programmes, campuses, events, bursaries, student support, staff tools and college news. This chapter explains how the handbook works and how to get the most out of the app.
How to use it
- 1Use the menu on the left (tap the ☰ button on a phone) to open any page of the app — every page in the menu is covered in this handbook.
- 2Each chapter in this handbook follows the same pattern: what the page is for, who it is for, and numbered steps showing exactly how to use it.
- 3New students should start with Part 2 (Student Life). Staff members should read Part 1, then jump to Part 4 (Staff Area).
- 4Everything in the app works on phones, tablets and computers — the layout adjusts automatically to your screen.
- 5Tap Share App in the menu to send the app to a friend by WhatsApp, SMS or any messaging app on your phone.
Creating an Account & Signing In
Some features — your profile, saved bursaries, alumni membership, the SRC board and the staff Intranet — need a free account. Students and the public can register with any email address; staff sign in with their @taletso.edu.za address.
How to use it
- 1Click Sign In at the bottom of the left menu to open the sign-in page.
- 2If you do not have an account yet, choose Register and enter your name, email address and a password.
- 3Check your email inbox for the verification message and follow the link to confirm your address.
- 4Return to the sign-in page, enter your email and password, and you are signed in.
- 5Forgot your password? Click Forgot Password, enter your email, and follow the reset link sent to your inbox.
- 6Staff members: always sign in with your college email (@taletso.edu.za). The Intranet only recognises college addresses, and new staff accounts need a one-time approval by an administrator.
- 7Once signed in, your name and picture appear at the bottom of the menu, with a logout button beside them.

Finding Your Way Around
The app is organised into clear areas: public pages everyone can see, student services, the staff-only Intranet, and admin tools. This chapter is a map so you always know where to look.
How to use it

- 2Academic section: Student Support and the SRC Notice Board.
- 3External links take you to the college's Facebook, WhatsApp and TikTok pages, the DHET website and the MyNSFAS portal.
- 4Signed-in staff see the Intranet; administrators also see the Administration section with the Admin Portal, Branding and Intranet Admin.
- 5The search on the Intranet dashboard searches staff news, documents and notices — use it instead of scrolling.
- 6On a phone, tap the ☰ button at the top to slide the menu open, and tap outside it to close.
Part 2 — Student Life

How to use it
- 1Choose what you need: a support request, a booked appointment, or the grievance and feedback form.
- 2To request help: pick your campus and the service area (counselling, disability support, financial aid, academic support and more), write a subject and describe your situation, then submit.
- 3You may submit a request anonymously — the system gives you a secure reference code and a follow-up link; save them, because they are the only way to check an anonymous request.
- 4To book an appointment: choose your campus, a preferred date and time, the service you need, and add notes. Your campus officer confirms the date, time and office number, which then appears in your request list.
- 5To complain or give feedback: use the grievance form, pick a category, describe what happened, and accept the declaration. You receive a tracking reference like SG-2026-AB12.
- 6Track every request from your request list: click one to see its progress, the official responses and the outcome. If a request was closed too soon, you can reopen it.
- 7Linked requests automatically create a case in the college's case-management system, so nothing gets lost between intake and resolution.

Part 6 — Help & Reference
For: EveryoneFrequently asked questions, troubleshooting and a glossary of terms.
Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting
Quick answers to the questions users ask most, and what to do when something does not work as expected.
Questions & answers
I registered but never received the verification email. What now?
Check your spam or junk folder first. If it is not there, wait a few minutes and try registering again, or use the Forgot Password flow, which also verifies your address.
I am staff and my Intranet access is stuck on pending. What should I do?
Access is approved manually by an administrator to protect staff information. Contact the admin office or raise it through the Contact Us page; approval usually follows shortly after your account is verified.
Can I use the app without an account?
Yes. All public pages — Home, Programmes, Campuses, Events, Bursaries, Vacancies, Newsletters, Tenders, the Brand Shop and more — are open to everyone. Only your profile, saved items, the SRC board, the alumni network and the Intranet need an account.
How do I get the app on my phone's home screen?
Open the app in your phone browser, use the browser menu and choose Add to Home Screen. On the home page there is also an install prompt — the Share App menu item helps you send the link to your other devices.
The PDF manual did not download. What should I try?
Wait for the screenshot progress bar at the top of this page to finish, then click Download again. If it still fails, recapture the screenshots — some phones need a second attempt.
I cannot see an announcement or post I know was published.
Refresh the page — content loads live from the college database. If it is still missing, it may have been unpublished or is scheduled for later; check the Events Calendar for related dates.
Someone posted as me / I see content that breaks the rules.
All official posts are published by verified accounts only, and authorship is locked to the signed-in user. Report the content through the Contact Us page and administrators will act on the audit trail.
My bursary application link does not open.
Application links go to the provider's own website — if it fails, the provider may be offline or the window closed. Check the closing date on the bursary card, and use the application help section for alternatives.
Who do I contact for help with the app itself?
Use the Contact Us page for the college's contact details. For sign-in and account problems, use the Forgot Password flow first — it resolves most access issues without waiting for the admin office.
